My Thoughts:
The second book in the “My Blood Runs Blue Series” by Stacy Eaton picks up right after the first book ends. The book is again action packed as we see more of Kristen, Julian and Alexander. Kristen is still a fiercely independent, strong woman who wants to continue to be a cop and kick some butt, while Alex and Julian still want to protect her, to keep her safe. It seems neither of them knows her as well as she’d like. Enter Trent, the newest edition to the story. I found Trent to be an extremely well written character. He interacts quite well with Kristen and I love the new story line there. I won’t say any more as I don’t want to give away any of the plot, with all its twists and turns. There are many surprises in this book that I didn’t see coming. It was great to see Gabe again (he’s the brother everyone wants!) and to meet Livy, Izzy and Kat (Kristen’s best friends). The addition of the powerful friendships brings even more depth to the story. This book is again written from multiple points of view and I reiterate my opinion that this only makes the story feel more real. Being able to see more than one side of the story, to experience the feelings of those involved helps you to get an even better grasp of what’s going on. You do get a bit of background at the beginning of this book. It is not so much as to give you information overload, but enough to know who is who and what is what. The introduction of Burke, a very homicidal vampire, brings more drama and plot twists. Stacy once again lends her occupational expertise to the story, bringing that professionalism into her story and making it realistic. This was a very exciting read with plenty of intrigue, action and passion. Hold on to the reins because you are in for a heck of a ride! I can’t wait to read book 3!
